Seriously, Don’t Buy Followers

I’m positive that you’ve heard this before, but I thought I would talk about it because there are still rumors that it’s good for your account, I’ve spoken to people who are still considering it, and I’ve seen accounts doing it.

Buying followers is the epitome of “GIRL, IT’S NOT WORTH IT” for so many reasons.

To begin, followers DO NOT equal sales. And in this case, the followers aren’t even real. Wouldn’t you rather save your money and have 1,000 super-engaged, loyal followers than buy 10,000 fake followers aren’t ever going to buy from you?

“But it’s about the appearance. 10,000 looks better than 1,000.”

Only until someone taps on a post and sees that you have 10,000 followers, but you’re only getting 100 likes per post. Buying followers is GLARINGLY obvious. Not to mention that such a low engagement rate will not look good for you with the algorithm.

“Well, I’ll buy engagement too.”

Also obvious — when some posts get 400 likes and others get 10, people will know the interactions aren’t genuine. Plus, buying engagement stops you from knowing which content actually performed well with your audience.
