My solo girls’ night

This weekend was all about me time. I was supposed to go camping with my boyfriend, but opted out in favor of some solo down time; I knew I needed it. We have a big weekend away for Labor Day coming up, and I wanted some chill time before that.

I’m calling it a girls’ night, except it’s really me and my dog, Barney. I spoke with him and he didn’t mind being lumped in with the girls, so here we are.

Here is everything I did with my solo girls’ night (plus Barney):

Had a self-timer photo shoot

Friday night, I decided to try out a solo photo shoot. Why not, right?

There’s been this stigma about taking photos of yourself, but with COVID-19 and at-home photo shoots, self-timer has grown in popularity. Now, taking self-timer photos in public, on the other hand…there’s still some stigma there, but I threw caution to the wind (and went to a spot that I thought would be pretty empty).

I took a ride to a local hiking trail, set up my self-timer in a few different locations, and honestly…I’m pretty impressed. Both with myself and Apple products.

Here are some of my favorite shots:

Made myself dinner

My boyfriend doesn’t like mushrooms, so I decided to indulge my mushroom desires while he was away. Shiitake mushroom chicken from Trader Joe’s over cauliflower rice. 100% would recommend.

Got Coldstone

Self-explanatory. There’s nothing ice cream can’t fix.

Watched The Office

My boyfriend, my mom, and I are kind of crazy about The Office. We watch it when we’re happy, sad, angry, excited…basically all the time, so naturally it was the perfect end to my solo girls’ night.

My original plan was to stay in all night and watch Mamma Mia, but my night ended up pretty great. I felt so good after taking time to myself to refresh.

Here’s to a great week!
