Why You Shouldn’t Use Instagram’s Most Popular Hashtags

We use hashtags to…

1) Let Instagram know what we're posting about

2) increase the reach of our post

Hashtags with hundreds of millions of posts, especially ones that have nothing to do with your content (I'm looking at you, #instagood) do neither of those things!

Huge hashtags, like ones with over a few million posts, are being used so often that within minutes (or even seconds) after you hit publish, your post will be buried, never to be seen again. Smaller hashtags give your post a better lifespan within those hashtags.

And don't forget, use hashtags that relate to your post or to your niche!

TLDR; Use niche hashtags with less than a million posts to maximize reach and engagement.
